Hello! I just discovered you today! I am about to start my own herbal adventure in my basement, and later move it to the garden bed this spring, so I appreciate your love for herbs and their many purposes as well! I was wondering if you grow your herbs organically? I know often business are not able to afford the organic certification and therefor cannot label their goods as “ORGANIC”, but I was curious if this is something that is important to you as a grower….from seed to finish, to be organic?

Growing my herbs using organic methods is important to me. I do my own cuttings or divisions and start annuals from organic seed or from my own saved seed. I use biological insect control like lady beetles, lacewings, and mantids to control insects and simple things like baking soda to control fungus. I don’t want to jump through the hoops that it takes to be certified organic so I can’t say that I’m certified organic even if I had the time
. We have not used pesticides on our land in the 20+ years that we have lived here. I guess the answer is yes growing organic is very important to me, but being certified isn’t. I simply love what I do and I love the people who come here to share the experience. I’m so happy that you are reading my blog, writing has become my second love or should I say my third, alway family first. Thank You! Also check us out at facebook.com/nelsonsherbs.
